The state Department of Natural Resources
wants to send a message to anglers: don't give up just because the
leaves are turning.

DNR fishery experts say fall fishing is prime time. Many fish
species congregate as winter approaches and feed during much of the
day as food prospects dwindle.

They say the mosquitoes have all but vanished and fewer anglers
on the water means less competition. Plus, muskies tend to bite
well into the fall, fish in the Mississippi River backwaters begin
to move and Lake Superior salmon are starting to congregate near
river mouths.
