The state Natural Resources Board has
adopted a new 15-year plan to fight chronic wasting disease in
Wisconsin deer.

The plan calls for the Department of Natural Resources to
continue monitoring for the disease and to use sharpshooters to
thin the herd where new infections appear on the edge of the
disease zone.

Other provisions include pursuing a ban on statewide baiting and
feeding and reviews of the plan's effectiveness every five years.
The board approved the plan on a 7-0 vote at a meeting Wednesday
in Wisconsin Rapids.
