Farm News: Soybean Grower Election AnnouncedcommentsPosted: 09.23.2010
Elections for three positions on the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board will begin on September 27 and end on October 13, the Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection announced today.
The Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board is responsible for managing over $900,000 annually for research, education, and market development programs. Farmers who grow and sell soybeans in the districts up for election are eligible to vote. Ballots are available through the local UW County Extension Office or by contacting Noel Favia at DATCP.
To be valid, completed ballots must be postmarked on or before October 13, 2010.
The three districts up for election are as follows:
District 3 – With no candidates on the ballot, it will be conducted as a write-in election for Adams, Crawford, Dane, Grant, Green, Iowa, Juneau, Lafayette, Monroe, Richland, Sauk and Vernon counties.
District 4 – With no candidates on the ballot, it will be conducted as a write-in election for Calumet, Columbia, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Jefferson, Manitowoc, Marquette, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, Washington, Waukesha, Waushara and Winnebago counties.
District 5 – Incumbent Patrick Mullooly of Clinton will be on the ballot, which includes Rock county.
Each elected Director will serve a 3-year term ending on August 31, 2013.
