The 35th Annual WALSAA Fire-Up Tailgate Party was the place to be for UW-Madison CALS alumni and friends. With a new, popular location; more than 450 were in attendance; and nearly $22,000 was raised for scholarships!
WALSAA’s new outdoor event at the UW-Foundation building, just blocks from Camp Randall Stadium, was a huge hit. There is not much that beats a beautiful fall afternoon with great friends, a cold beverage and a Badger football game to follow. The transition from the UW Field House to the new locale was seamless thanks to the dedication of our volunteer planners and helpers.
“Thank you to all of our volunteers and donors. Without their personal commitment, our event would not have been a success,” says Brian Fluno, WALSAA president.
With a number of hot ticket items from generous donors, the annual Fire-Up Silent Auction recorded nearly $22,000 raised in scholarship monies. That includes the $10,000 matching contribution from the UW-Foundation. Fire-Up attendee Carl Daniels also pocketed some cash. He won the 50/50 Raffle and donated a portion of his winnings to WALSAA.
