An Ohio man has been fined more than
$19,000 for killing more than 3,000 walleye, northern pike and
catfish in Lake Puckaway.

Timothy Smith pleaded no contest to charges, including a felony
fishing violation. In exchange, the judge didn't order prison Friday, but revoked
Smith's hunting and fishing privileges for three years.

His attorney Kirk Everson said the state Department of Natural
Resources hired Smith to kill carp, but his nets caught everything
last November.

WLUK-TV in Green Bay reports that Smith's crew tried to save
some fish, but couldn't get them out of the nets fast enough.
DNR Warden Nate Ackerman says the incident left 1.3 miles of
dead fish on the south shore alone.
