Farm News: Flooding Complicates Duck Hunting

State wildlife officials are warning duck
hunters to watch out for flooded waterways.

Heavy rain across much of northern and central Wisconsin have
caused record flood levels along the Wisconsin River from Wisconsin
Dells to Prairie Du Chien and rising Mississippi River waters.
The southern duck season opens Saturday. The Department of
Natural Resources warns duck hunters might find their favorite boat
landings flooded and inaccessible. They also should be on the
lookout for strong currents and floating debris.

DNR officials say the high water might mean poor hunting
conditions on the rivers. Ducks may have a hard time reaching
submerged plants and may not congregate in marshes as usual.
Flooded woodlands, though, might offer better conditions.
