Farm News: 3 Wisconsin Reps Named "Friends" Of Farm BureaucommentsPosted: 10.15.2010 Wisconsin Representatives Tom Petri, Paul Ryan and Jim Sensenbrenner have been recognized by the American Farm Bureau Federation as “Friends of Farm Bureau” for their support of Farm Bureau priorities during the 111 th Congress. To earn the distinction, Petri scored 67, Ryan scored 80 and Sensenbrenner scored 67 of the voting record on issues important to Farm Bureau. “We want to congratulate Representatives Petri, Ryan and Sensenbrenner for their support of Farm Bureau policies,” said Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President Bill Bruins . “Since Farm Bureau policy is developed by our members it’s gratifying that these individuals recognized what is important to production agriculture.” “In the next Congress there will be many more issues debated and voted on that will directly affect farmers,” Bruins noted, “To get anything meaningful accomplished we will need bipartisan support. It’s my hope that we will have more members of our delegation receiving the award two years from now.” AFBF scored members of Congress based on their voting records on the following pieces of legislation: climate change, health care, chemicals, taxes and the disclosure act. In addition to their voting record, Bruins added, “We are pleased that they opposed the climate change, health care, disclosure act, and chemical bills. We hope that constituents in those congressional districts will appreciate how Representatives Petri, Ryan and Sensenbrenner value farmers’ best interests.” |
