DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski has named members to the new Bioenergy Advisory Council.  The Council will be part of the state’s efforts to advance homegrown, sustainable sources of energy.

The Bioenergy Advisory Council was created to help "advance clean, renewable sources of energy" in Wisconsin.  This action, in part, has helped the state grow jobs related to renewable energy.

The Bioenergy Advisory Council will advise agencies and other stakeholders on best practices for sustainable production of biomass feedstocks. The membership’s first meeting will be scheduled for later this fall.

The members are:

  • David Donovan, Xcel Energy -- Council Co-chair
  • Jamie Derr, farmer and member of Landmark Services Cooperative Board of Directors -- Council Co-chair
  • Jeff Landin, Wisconsin Paper Council
  • Henry Schienebeck, Wisconsin Professional Loggers Association
  • Dick Gorder, Farm Bureau
  • T.J. Morice, Marth Wood Shavings
  • Bob Sather, Ace Ethanol/Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance
  • Tim Clay, Cooperative Network
  • Andrew Fiene, Premier Coop
  • Peter Taglia, Clean Wisconsin
  • Kevin Wallenfang, Pheasants Forever
  • Julian Zelazny, Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association
  • Ron Tehassi Hill, Oneida Nation
  • Steve Bertjens, Natural Resources Conservation Service
  • Susan Butler, Farm Service Agency
  • Troy Runge, University of Wisconsin Bioenergy Initiative

“The membership of the council reflects strong and diverse expertise on energy and agricultural issues, and I want to thank them for their service,” Secretary Romanski said. “The Council will help establish standards to sustainably grow and harvest crops to meet the state’s renewable energy needs while strengthening our agricultural economy.”
