Both the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation and Cooperative Network are expressing their disappointment at the announcement of Molly Jahn stepping down as Dean of the College of Ag and Life Sciences in Madison.

Cooperative Network President and CEO, Bill Oemichen, said that Jahn has been a tireless advocate and ally for all of Wisconsin agriculture.  Oemichen says her decision to become faculty comes at time when CALS reaches a crucial crossroads, particularly in its work in biomass energy research.   Oemichen said Cooperative Network is encouraging the University to work quickly to find a permanent replacement for Jahn that will continue to advance rural Wisconsin .

Likewise, the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation says the change in leadership at the College of Ag and Life Sciences comes at a critical time for all of Wisconsin agriculture and its progress.  Bill Bruin, president of WFBF said, "We're both saddened and very disappointed at the announcement,"

Bruins said the change means Wisconsin is losing a Dean who was a true champion for the states diverse $59 billion agriculture industry.

Also noted as one of Jahn's accomplishments was the recent hiring of a long-sought after dairy economist from Cornell University, Dr. Mark Stephenson, who's now director of the Center for Dairy Profitability on campus.
