Farm News: Ruby Nouveau Wine - Ready To GocommentsPosted: 11.02.2010 Wollersheim Winery will release the first taste of the 2010 harvest – Ruby Nouveau 2010 on Thursday, November 18! Following the traditional methods of whole berry fermentation, Coquard is excited to release Wollersheim Ruby Nouveau, a Wisconsin version of a Beaujolais Nouveau. Not only made in Wisconsin, the Ruby Nouveau is also grown in Wisconsin at the Wollersheim Winery hillside vineyards in Prairie du Sac. A dry grape wine, Ruby Nouveau 2010 is very fresh, as a Nouveau typically is, and is reminiscent of wild raspberries. A result of the weather this past summer, this vintage of Ruby Nouveau is a little fruitier and lighter than last year, shares Coquard.
With its ruby red color, Ruby Nouveau is a favorite choice during the holiday season pairing well with turkey and other festive foods. Available at the winery or in many Wisconsin stores and restaurants, the bottle’s new label depicts a stained glass window recently crafted at the winery of a grapevine complete with hillside prickly pear cactus.
To celebrate this Wisconsin version of a French tradition, the public is invited to the historic Wollersheim Winery on Saturday, November 20. Visitors can taste the Ruby Nouveau and four other Wollersheim wines paired with an array of specialty Wisconsin cheeses. In lieu of guided tours, a special self-guided wine journey will be offered between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday explaining more about Ruby Nouveau.
The Ruby Nouveau wine is released on Thursday, November 18 at the winery and around the state of Wisconsin, while the special Ruby Nouveau Tasting Celebration will run from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 20 at Wollersheim Winery.
