Rebecca Baumann has been hired as the new executive director of the Wisconsin Agribusiness Innovation Center in Owen.

Baumann will begin the position on Monday, November 8th - giving her an opportunity to cross-train with current director, Mike Kawleski.  In an exclusive interview with Pam Jahnke, Kawleski says that he's happy the Innovation Center found such a qualified candidate so quickly, and that he'll have a chance to work with her before he leaves the post.

Baumann is a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago with a law degree.  She's bar certified in both Wisconsin and Illinois.  Most recently Baumann was the executive director of the Minnesota Project - a non-profit group that works on sustainable production and distribution of energy and food across the state.

She also served as Executive Director for the Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association.

"I'm really pleased that Rebecca will be able to step in and keep the momentum of the Innovation Center rolling forward,"  Kawleski told Jahnke.  "Fund raising is really picking up steam, and we'll be breaking ground on the actual center itself next spring - so this is really an exciting time for her to join us."

Baumann originally comes from an Ohio dairy farm, which her brother still runs.

Mike Kawleski, who will continue to serve CWAIC on its board of directors and lead its communications activities.

“Rebecca has diverse leadership expertise, as well as great experience as an entrepreneur, fund raiser, and partnership builder,” says CWAIC president, Ryan Stockwell, Medford. “We’re pleased that she has agreed to lead our project.”
