Two Wisconsin consumers have been awarded a years worth of free groceries in the Wisconsin Farmers Feed Us campaign.
Tuesday morning at Majestic Meadows Dairy in Sheboygan Falls, farmer Vicki Coughlin, representing the Wisconsin Soybean Board - presented the first prize - valued up to $5,000 to David and Dianne Schneider of Sheboygan. You can view the video below.
While on the farm, Schneider said "I'm not the type of person that wins" - so the prize was outstanding in his book. Schneider said that he not only registered himself - but his kids as well - which has led to some friendly teasing in the family.
Schneider did note his appreciation to farmers - and the food they provide. "If it wouldn't be for the farmers of America, we wouldn't eat - its just that simple."
The second Wisconsin Farmers Feed Us winners (pictured above) met the media and supporting representatives at a grocery store in West Allis! Walter and "Chella" Zoila Naujock of Franklin were the additional winners of free groceries for a year!
Throughout the campaign, 8 Wisconsin farmers were featured in video vinettes explaining how they grow food. After viewing the videos - consumers had a chance to register for the groceries. According to organizers, the campaign lasted 90 days and found more then 107,000 people that registered for the groceries. More then 7,300 of those visitors opted to follow the featured farmers on social media like Facebook and Twitter.
