A search committee has chosen an East Coast
college president to lead the University of Wisconsin System's
two-year schools and outreach programs.

The panel announced that it has picked Raymond Cross,
president of Morrisville State College in New York, to be the next
UW Colleges and UW-Extension chancellor.

Cross has served as president at Morrisville State College since
1998. He also served as president of Northwest Technical College in
Bemidji, Minn., from 1992 until 1998.

The full UW Board of Regents still must confirm him. He would
succeed David Wilson, who stepped down as chancellor in June to
become president of Morgan State University.
