State wildlife officials say hunters killed
about 106,500 deer during the first two days of Wisconsin's
November gun season.

The Department of Natural Resources says that's up about 6.3
percent from opening weekend last year, when hunters killed 100,330
deer. Hunters took 54,263 bucks and 52,141 antlerless deer.

DNR officials stress the numbers are preliminary and were based
on call-around surveys to deer registration stations. They say the
final numbers likely will be higher when all registration stubs are
entered into the agency's database over the next few months.
