Farm News: State Christmas Tree Shines This Weekend

Posted: 12.03.2010

Visitors to the Wisconsin state Capitol
will see a fully decorated and lit tree in the rotunda starting
Friday.

Gov. Jim Doyle and first lady Jessica Doyle were scheduled to
participate in the official lighting ceremony on Friday.
This year's tree is a 30-foot fraser fir donated by Jon Schultz
of Northwoods Evergreen & Wire Co., near Merrill.

It is decorated with 700 feet of gold garland, 2,400
multicolored lights and 1,400 handmade ornaments donated by
Wisconsin citizens.

A tree has been displayed in the Capitol Rotunda every year
since 1916 and since 1985 it has been referred to as a holiday
tree, instead of a Christmas tree.
