The crowd might not have been large - but the work they tackled mounted - during the annual State Convention for the Wisconsin NFO on Saturday in Tomah.

39 different resolutions were submitted - discussed - and supported in Saturday's aggressive business session.

Don Hamm of Fredonia - president of the Wisconsin NFO - said making sure consumers understand how serious farmers take their job as caretakers is becoming more paramount to all of agriculture.  The group supported the National Dairy Animal Well Being initiative as one of their adopted resolutions.

Hamm says the group actually had its first meeting in 2008 at World Dairy Expo.  He said the initiative's goal is to protect consumer trust and confidence in the dairy industry by demonstrating dairy producers’ commitment to animal well-being.

The group's keynote speaker was Dr. Richard Levin, NFO's national president.
