“It is an honor to be able to serve as an advocate for agriculture, Wisconsin’s number one
industry,” said State Senator Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse). Kapanke was appointed Chair of the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Higher Education by incoming Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald for the 2011-2012 session.

“As two of Wisconsin’s strongest industries, it is crucial that agriculture and forestry have a dedicated champion in the State Senate,” said Kapanke. “Our agriculture industry will play a key role in restoring Wisconsin’s economic competitiveness, and I’m ready to utilize resources our state has to create a better environment for farmers in Wisconsin.”

Kapanke says that with the new Republican Majority and Governor-elect Scott Walker, the state is poised to make serious steps in restoring the strength of Wisconsin’s economy. He will work to position our state as a leader in agriculture innovation and ingenuity.

Kapanke grew up on a dairy farm near Coon Valley and spent 25 years in the agriculture industry as a
seed salesman for Pride Seed Company and Kaltenberg Seed Farms. He served as Chair of the Senate Agriculture and Insurance Committee from 2004-2006 and was the ranking Minority member of the Committee during the most recent session.
