Posted: 12.21.2010

Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Ag in the Classroom will award teacher mini-grants to pre-school through high school teachers to fund projects that promote agricultural literacy in the classroom. Ten grants (up to $100 each) will support innovative lessons, activities, projects, resources, presentations, school fairs and other projects that integrate agriculture into a variety of curriculum areas. The application deadline for the teacher mini-grants is January 15, 2010 and can be downloaded from www.wisagclassroom.org.

Teacher mini-grant funding has been given for projects such as:
  • “Agriculture Board Games” used to promote agricultural literacy, critical thinking and positive social skills in Cambridge.
  • “National Agriculture Week Ag Literacy Program” which educated students from three grade levels in Lodi about food and agricultural products produced in Wisconsin.
  • “Adventures in Forestry.” a week-long project informing Gresham students of what forestry is and why it is so important to Wisconsin’s economy.
  • “Conserving our Land and Water” which helped Reedsville students understand how land is used for the production of crops and how important this is to human survival.

For more information about the teacher mini-grants, contact Darlene Arneson at 608.828.5719.
