In a bit of a surprise - long time dairy educator, Irv Possin, has announced he'll retire at the end of the calendar year.

Irv Possin, Executive Director of Dairy 2020, has chosen to retire from a position he has held since 2006.

From 1985-2006, Possin was dairy/livestock agent for the UW-Extension, Fond du Lac County. For the previous ten years he served as UW-Extension agriculture in Eau Claire County and farm management agent in Chippewa County. He has provided technical assistance and consulting in areas such as animal nutrition and health, genetics, financial analysis, labor, and agricultural policy. He earned a BS in Animal Science from UW River Falls and an MS in Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Since its inception in 1996, the Dairy 2020 program has provided more than $2,545,000 to over 925 Wisconsin dairy producers. It is administered currently through the Wisconsin Department of Commerce - an area that Governor-Elect Scott Walker has suggested will go through a major revamp under his administration.
