Farm News: Ripp To State Fair BoardcommentsPosted: 01.11.2011
State Representative Keith Ripp (Lodi-R) has been appointed to the Wisconsin State Fair Board of Directors by Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald. Rep. Ripp joins the board as a legislative member and third generation family farmer.
The Wisconsin State Fair is annual tradition that wrapped up its 159th year in 2010. The State Fair Park is home to hundreds of events every year and is situated in both West Allis and Milwaukee. The Wisconsin State Fair Park is part of the State of Wisconsin and under the Department of Tourism. The main event held every year is the Wisconsin State Fair. Every August the Wisconsin State Fair Park welcomes 800,000 people to the grounds to learn more about Wisconsin’s diverse agriculture products and enjoy their world famous cream puffs.
“I am honored to be selected to the Wisconsin State Fair Board,” said Ripp. “Some of my best memories are from exhibiting and volunteering at the fairs. It is a true privilege to serve on the board for one of our greatest annual events in our state, the Wisconsin State Fair.”
“Representative Ripp’s agricultural background, his experience on the assembly agriculture committee and his work with the Dane County and Lodi Agricultural fairs make him an ideal selection to help lead the State Fair Park Board forward,” Speaker Fitzgerald said.
From the days of being a young exhibitor at the Dane County and Lodi Ag fairs to a youth leader and currently a superintendent, Ripp understands the workings of fairs by bringing the rural and the urban sectors together. “The Wisconsin State Fair is our tool to teach about our abundant agricultural resources, while attracting tourism to Wisconsin,” stated Representative Ripp.
