The smiling pair in the photo above are Wisconsin's Outstanding Holstein Boy and Girl - announced during the 2011 Wisconsin Junior Holstein Convention in Steven Point.

Jacob Brey of Door County and Danae Bauer of Waupaca County claimed the most prestigous honor presented by the convention body. The individuals selected for this honor have excelled in their own Holstein programs, and have been considered an asset to the association and the dairy industry.

Jacob is the 20-year old son of Bill and Clarice Brey of Sturgeon Bay.  When he's not working at Cycle Farm - the families 240 acre dairy operation in Door county - he's studying.  Brey is a sophomore at UW-Madison majoring in Dairy Science with a Business emphasis. On campus he's involved with the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the Badger Dairy Club.

Danae Bauer is the 19 year old daughter of Frank and Ruth Bauer of Scandinavia.  Danae is active in Sandy Valley dairy - the families 400 cow operation - doing everything from calf feeding to clipping and marketing the farms Holstein genetics.  Danae says she really enjoys showing her Holsteins and is very involved in 4-H.  She's the president of the Waushara-Waupaca Junior Holstein group.
