The Wisconsin Farm Report has learned that a UW-Platteville student has been selected as the 2011 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair from a field of 38 candidates!
The announcement that Alexis Nickelotti from Genoa is the new Fairest of the Fair. The 2008 graduate of DeSoto High School represented Vernon county in the event. She'll now assume the responsibillities of ambassador for all of Wisconsin's county fairs - and ultimately cap off her duties as ambassador at the Wisconsin State Fair this August.
Aside from her activities connected to county fairs - Alexis is also active with the Wisconsin FFA.
Althought there's no financial compensation for the Fairest - she'll be reimbursed for all of her state travel encouraging the public to attend county fairs. Wisconsin Fair Association officials say the position is designed to promote the variety that county fairs offer in education, agriculture, social, cultural and commercial venues. Nickelotti begins her duties immediately.
The Fairest of the Fair announcement capped off the 2011 Wisconsin Fair Association conference and annual meeting in Wisconsin Dells.
The other finalists named Wednesday night included:
1st runner up- Waupaca Cty... Amy Manske
2nd runner up- Trempelealeau Cty...Mary Pat Speerstra
3rd runner up- Washington Cty...Kaylyn Krebs
4th runner up- Fond du Lac Cty...Kristin Kohlmann
