Wisconsin farmers have several, free opportunities to learn about social media and the importance of telling their personal farm stories during the next few weeks via online presentations and a special session at Wisconsin Corn/Soy Expo in Wisconsin Dells.

Thursday, Jan. 20, the first in a series of social media webinars presented by the National Corn Growers Association takes place at http://ncga.com/socialmedia . On-line presenters will explain the return on investment farmers make when engaging in social media and how to use and track success. Pre-registration is required for the webinar, which starts at 10:30 a.m., CST, Jan. 20, and is sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred. Subsequent webinars are planned for Feb. 17, March 17, April 28, May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15. Times for these will be announced prior to each webinar.

Social media training with Alice in Dairyland takes place Thursday, Feb. 3, 4:30-5:30 pm at the Kalahari Conference Center during the annual Corn/Soy Expo Wisconsin Dells. This session, sponsored by the Wisconsin soybean checkoff and corn checkoff is available without registration to all family members interested in learning social media basics.

“Social media has become the central meeting place for millions of Americans both young and old,” explains Alice in Dairyland Christine Lindner. “It is not only a quick way for farmers to easily reach hundreds of consumers; it’s also the way most people prefer to communicate today, regardless of age. It’s not simply about the virtual connection, though, it’s about making that personal connection and sharing your passion for our state's $59 billion agriculture industry.”
