State wildlife officials have issued about
145,500 spring turkey permits through their annual lottery.
Winner notifications will go out in the mail later this week.

Hunters also can check their status on the Department of Natural
Resources website.

The DNR is making 225,729 permits available this spring, the
same number that was available for the 2010 season, when hunters
took 47,700 turkeys.

This year's spring season will run from April 13 through May 22.
The season will be divided into six, five-day periods that run from
Wednesday through Sunday.
