He saved his family - then went back in to try and save their old farm house.  In the end, it cost Randy Eberle his life.

Thursday evening, Randy Eberle, 43, had been milking late when he noticed the smoke coming from the house.  He rescued his wife and family, and then returned with a fire extinguisher to try and battle the blaze.  When authorities arrived - Eberle had not escaped the blaze.

Tim Eberle, Randy's brother, tells Pam Jahnke that he leaves behind his wife and four daughters - as well as an active dairy herd.  Randy Eberle was the last family member to operate the family farm.

The fire apparently broke out in the basement where a wood burner was located.
