The Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources says it has thwarted plans by a group of young men to
illegally kill raccoons and deer in a competition.

The DNR got an anonymous tip about the alleged animal-killing
contest at the end of October. DNR wardens apprehended several
suspects before the contest could occur.

According to the DNR, participants planned to kill as many
animals as possible and keep score. The DNR says the competition allegedly involved 12 males from four northeastern Wisconsin counties. The suspects range in age
from 16 to 19.

Their names have not been released, because the DNR says charges
are pending and some of the suspects are minors.
