Farm News: Platteville Readies For Annual Bull SalecommentsPosted: 02.23.2011 The 54th annual Wisconsin Beef Improvement Association's Tested Bull Sale is scheduled for April 2nd at the UW-Plattevilee Pioneer Prairie Farm. The sale, which allows any beef producer to improve their herds beef genetics through tested performance bulls - is happening at a time when the beef industry is on the rebound. Alicia Prill-Adams, coordinator for the activities on the UW-Platteville farm says the top 60 bulls will be sold that complete the rigors of the testing. Bulls are evaluated on everything from sperm motility and viability to rib-eye size. Multiple breeds will go through the testing process. Prill-Adams tells Pam Jahnke that there's something new this year. A special sale featuring one purebred Angus heifer will be sold with proceeds being dedicated to construction of the Frank and Mary Jean Hlavac beef facility at the Platteville farm.
