The weather was a bit of a shock when I exited the Tampa International airport late Monday evening. Temperatures this week will be in the mid-70's, and the humidity is noticeable.
What's also noticeable at this year's Commodity Classic is that all of agriculture is aware of what's happening in the media with food prices dometically and worldwide. Tuesday morning, Bayer CropSciences invited agriculture journalists from around the United States to take a look at evolving products and trends.
The Vice President of Marketing for Bayer CropScience, Mike Deall, told journalists that today Bayer CropSciences are spending approximately 80 percent of their research monies on improving and protecting the environment in conjunction with providing agriculture worldwide with crop protection tools to feed the world.
Deall reminded the audience that today the world is simply one weather event away from finding true shortages of of many different food products around the world.
Bayer CropSciences is also conducting real-time surveys throughout the two day conference they're hosting. I'll try to keep you posted on results.
Next up, former U.S. Ag Secretary, Clayton Yeutter.
