Farm News: Most Commodity Prices Up In First QuartercommentsPosted: 03.02.2011
Prices in Wisconsin for milk, corn, oats, soybeans, potatoes, and alfalfa hay increased from January to February 2011, while other hay remained at the same level as in January. Corn in Wisconsin sold for an average price of $5.81 per bushel in mid-February. This was a gain of 92 cents over the previous month’s price and $2.33 over the price in February 2010. Nation-wide corn prices averaged $5.66 per bushel in mid-February. The average price for Wisconsin soybeans was $12.20 per bushel in mid-February, 70 cents more than the January price and $2.61 more than in February 2010. Across the United States soybeans sold for an average of $12.10 per bushel in mid-February. Wisconsin oats averaged $2.75 per bushel in mid-February, 7 cents more than in the previous month and 58 cents more than in February 2010. Nationally, mid-February oat prices averaged $3.38 per bushel. Alfalfa hay in Wisconsin sold for an average price of $100.00 per ton as of mid-February, $5.00 more than in the previous month but $20.00 less than in February 2010. The average price for other hay types remained at $70.00 per ton from January to mid-February, but was $15.00 less than the price in February of last year. |
