The 54th Wisconsin Beef Improvement Association (WBIA) has concluded and here are the final results.
Bob and Mary Roenneburg, Vulture Hollow Simmentals, Blue Mounds, WI, had the top performing bull at this year’s test. The DS Six Shooter 3H son had a 5.35 total average daily gain (ADG) and a 3.87 weight per day of age (WDA). The 365 Day Adjust Weight was 1428 pounds with a final index of 116%. Jeanne and Bruce Pope, Timber Springs Farm, Richland Center, WI, had the second top performing Simmental bull with a 5.0 ADG and a 3.62 WDA, and a 1334 pounds, 365 adjusted yearling weight Fifteen Simmental bulls averaged 4.42 ADG, and a 3.52 WDA.
UW Platteville Pioneer Prairie Farm, Platteville, WI consigned the top performing Red Angus bull. The LCJ Javelin M08 son gained 4.8 ADG for the 100 day test with a 4.32 WDA and a 1587 pounds 365 Day adjusted weight. UW Platteville had the second high performing Red Angus bull as well. The sire of this bull was also LJC Javelin M08. He had a 4.1 ADG with a 3.74 WDA and a 1375 pound 365 day weight. Thirteen Red Angus bulls averaged 3.80 ADG, and a 3.49 WDA.
Hilleman Angus, Richland Center, WI had the top performing Angus bull in this year’s test. The TC Franklin 619 son had a Total ADG of 5.6 pounds and a 4.10 WDA. The bulls 365 Day Adjusted Yearling Weight was 1490 pounds. Wolters Farm, Inc., Cuba City, WI had the second high performing Angus bull. The WF Emperor 828 had a 5.5 ADG and a 3.99 WDA. It’s 365 adjusted yearling weight was 1497 pounds. Seventy eight Angus bulls averaged 4.18 ADG and a 3.48 WDA.
The top breeder group is an award given to a consignor of each breed that has the top 3 indexing bulls for that respective breed. Tom and Tweed Shuman, SMBA Stock Farm, Hayward, WI won the award for the Red Angus breed, Bob and Mary Roenneburg were the winners of the Simmental breed and Hermann and Christine Wolters, were the winners of the Angus breed.
The 54th Annual WBIA Performance tested bull sale will be held Saturday, April 2nd at the UW Platteville, Pioneer Prairie Farm near Platteville, WI.
