It was tough for judges to wade through 9 top quality applications and select the 2011 Master Stockman Scholarship winners - presented on Saturday evening in Arlington.
The annual scholarship program recognizes young people's passion for animal agriculture, their involvement in and out of the show ring, and their plans for the future.
Dr. Dan Shaffer from the UW College of Agriculture, was one of the panel judges, and the presenter on Saturday night before a full house.
The 2011 Master Stockman Scholarship winners are:
Devon Bruegger of Monroe - representing the WI swine industry.
Jordan Elf of Edgerton - representing the WI sheep industry.
Kelli Retallick of Glen Haven - representing the WI beef industry.
The Runners-Up for the Master Stockman Scholarships were:
Haley Dallas - Shawano
Jessica Radcliff - Weston
Amanda Rettinger - Antigo
Awards were also presented to livestock judging activities that had taken place throughout the day at the UW-Arlington Research facility. Staged contests ranged from physically judging livestock on to participating in team exercises and skill competitions.
In the Junior Division, teams from Marathon, Dodge, Columbia and Polk counties topped competition. Marathon county team number one beat out Pok counties team for overall honors.
In the Senior Division, teams from Grant, Polk, Marathon,and Dodge counties won categories. Grant counties' team was selected to advance to national compeition this fall in Louisville, Kentucky.
