The effects state budget proposals would have on rural Wisconsin and tips about having proper insurance coverage will be among topics at Wisconsin Farmers Union’s Spring Conference Tour meetings.
The programs also will have a National Farmers Union convention update and a WFU benefits review.
“There’s much in the biennial budget proposal that will affect rural Wisconsin,” said WFU President Darin Von Ruden of Westby. “It’s important for us to get information out about the proposal and to hear rural people’s reactions to them.”
Insurance coverage on farms has been another big issue for family farmers, said Jim Hickey of Farmers Union Insurance. Farmers often don’t realize gaps in their coverage until a disaster strikes, he said. A Farmers Union Insurance representative will be at the meetings to talk about such coverage gaps.
Tour sessions will be:
Bloomer: 7:30-9 p.m. March 29 at Fat Boy’s Pizza, 1312 Main Street.
Ellsworth: 9:70-9 p.m. April 4, courthouse annex building EOC room, 414 W. Main Street.
Fond du Lac: 1:15-3 p.m. April 5, UW-Extension office room 205, 400 University Ave.
Madison: 7:30-9 p.m. April 5, Denny’s, 1798 Thierer Road.
Tomah: 1-3 p.m. April 7, Farmers and Merchants Bank Community Meeting Center, 1001 Gasoline Alley.
Amherst Junction: 8-9:30 p.m., Whitetail Lanes, 3689 County Road Q.

The sessions are open to the public. For information or registration, contact Diane Tiry at 800-272-5531 or dtiry@wisconsinfarmersunion.com.
