A conservation group is honoring five more Wisconsin communities for helping protect urban birds.

The Milwaukee Audubon Society has started the ``Bird City Wisconsin'' project, which recognizes efforts to improve bird habitat, manage woodlands, limit hazards and educate citizens about birds. The five new cities are Racine and Evansville, the village of
McFarland, the Town of Presque Isle and Brown County. They join 15
others announced last December.

Bird City Wisconsin coordinator, Carl Schwartz, says more than
two dozen additional communities have efforts under way to meet the
program's standards.

The group hopes it becomes as popular as Tree City USA,
sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation.
