Wisconsin residents working to legalize the sale of raw milk in the state will find out where their work stands Wednesday during the "Raw Milk Day at the Capitol".

The event, organized by in part by the Wisconsin Raw Milk Association and the Farmer-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Room 425-SW of the State Capitol.

Lobbyist, Jolene Plautz, has been hired by the Wisconsin Raw Milk Association to try and advance two bills (one in the senate, one in the assembly) to the governor's desk.  The Wisconsin Raw Milk Association was formed in February of this year - with headquarters in New Holstein.  The group says their only goal is to legalize raw milk sales in the state - and that all monies will be used for lobbying and promotion of the effort.

Currently, State Senator Glenn Grothman and Assembly Representative Don Pridemore have authored "Raw Milk Bill", LRB 0306/2 (Senate) and LRB 1531/1 (Assembly).  Their staff will be meeting with the delegation for a briefing Wednesday morning.  According to the Wisconsin State Legislative website - neither of these bills have been scheduled for specific action.
