The summer of 2011 will be a busy one for the five student interns that have signed on to be a part of this year’s Landmark Services Cooperative Internship Program.   The program, now in its 19th year at Landmark, has become an important part of Landmark’s employee recruitment and development process.  Past interns at Landmark have become integral parts of Landmark’s Animal Nutrition, Agronomy and Grain staff upon graduation.  “We have found that our interns not only add a lot to our divisional teams during the summer months, but this program has become a great way to find new talent to add to the cooperative,” said Landmark Human Resources Manager Diane Harbort. “We have people who are now a part of our management staff that started here as interns over 10 years ago.”

Three of the five 2011 interns will become a part of Landmark’s busy Agronomy Division for the summer.  Emily Truttmann, a University of Wisconsin-Platteville student majoring in Animal Science, will be working with Landmark’s northern Agronomy team and will be based out of Markesan.   Originally from New Glarus, Wisconsin, Emily has been a leader in her local FFA as well as working as farm hand on her family’s farm, Truttmann Dairy.

Landmark’s central Agronomy team will welcome Trevin Kreier for the summer months.  Originally from Portage, Wisconsin; Trevin is a Life Science Communication major with a Business concentration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Based in Cottage Grove, Trevin will play an active role in the marketing and management of Landmark’s annual Forage and Crop Management AnswerPlot Workshops this summer.

The southern Landmark Agronomy team will have the assistance of Joseph Cash during his summer internship.  A University of Wisconsin-Platteville student that is working towards his American FFA degree, Joseph is originally from the Orfordville, Wisconsin area.  Joseph will work with Agronomy team members out of Landmark’s Evansville and Juda locations.

Joining Joseph in the southern Landmark territory and working out of Landmark’s Evansville Grain office will be Tori Sander of Marshall, Wisconsin.  Tori is a 2011 UW-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course student that will be working with Landmark’s Grain Division throughout the summer months as they prepare for both the September 15 Crop Management AnswerPlot Workshop as well as a busy harvest season.

The final intern for Landmark’s 2011 program will fulfill a new internship role in Landmark’s administrative and credit divisions.  Courtney Churchill, a 2010 winner of the Landmark Scholarship, will intern with Landmark’s Chief Financial Officer, Dan DiFonzo as well as Landmark’s finance and credit personnel.  An Agribusiness and Business Administration major with an emphasis in Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Courtney will be given the chance to test her education in a real-world setting as she works with the cooperative’s administrative staff on special projects throughout the summer months.

Each of the interns will begin their 2011 term with Landmark in mid-May and end by August 31, 2011.  Any students interested in submitting applications for the 2012 Landmark Internship Program should contact Diane Harbort at diane.harbort@landmark.coop.
