The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development and the Village of Fall River will be holding a Community Earth Day celebration on April 28th at Fall River School in Fall River, Wis.

The Village of Fall River Wastewater Treatment Regionalization Project has been selected by USDA as a National 2011 Earth Day Project.  A formal announcement will be made by USDA on April 18, 2011.

The Celebration will feature essays written by local students on the theme of “Winning the Future with a Cleaner Environment in your Community”; songs by the school Choir; a tree planting ceremony with students; and USDA Rural Development will highlight the new Wastewater Treatment Regionalization project for the Village which will result in cleaner runoff to the local water ways (including the Crawfish River) and reduce discharge into area ground water, in addition to an award presentation to Village leaders. The Celebration will conclude with a ground breaking ceremony to mark the official commencement of the project.

Children are also participating in an Earth Day Logo Drawing Contest, with the winning child’s logo used as the 2012 Earth Day logo for next year’s Earth Day Celebrations through USDA Rural Development in Wisconsin.
