Prices in Wisconsin for corn and soybeans were expected to increase from March to April 2011, while prices for milk and oats were expected to decrease during the same period. Prices for potatoes, alfalfa hay, and other hay are expected to remain at the same level as in March. Corn in Wisconsin sold for an average price of $6.43 per bushel in mid-April. This was 81 cents more than the previous month’s price and $3.06 more than the price in April 2010. Nationwide corn prices averaged $6.40 per bushel in mid-April. The average price for Wisconsin soybeans was $12.50 per bushel in mid-April, 50 cents more than March’s price and $2.95 more than the price in April 2010. Across the United States soybeans sold for an average of $12.80 per bushel in mid-April. Wisconsin oats averaged $3.00 per bushel in mid-April, 18 cents less than in the previous month but 92 cents more than in April 2010. Nationally, mid-April oat prices averaged $3.40 per bushel. Alfalfa hay in Wisconsin sold for an average price of $100.00 per ton as of mid-April, level with the previous month but $15.00 less than in April 2010. The average price for other hay types was $75.00 per ton in mid-April, unchanged from March but $10.00 less than the price in April of last year. |
