A state survey has turned up no trace of a deadly bat disease in Wisconsin.

White-nose syndrome causes bats to wake up during hibernation and quickly deplete their energy stores. It's killed more than a million bats in the U.S. and Canada since 2007.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been preparing for the disease's arrival in the state. The agency says survey crews monitored more than 100 potential hibernacula over the winter and found no sign of the disease.
