Farm News: Vote For Your County Fair

Do you love your county fair?  Then show it!

Badgerland Financial is again this year, offering a special initiative to support local county fairs and provide opportunities for youth service projects – with even more money at stake then last year!

Krista Kasten with Badgerland Financial says the ag lender kicked off it's campaign last year with great results.  County fairs in Wisconsin have continued to see state financial support dwindle - and getting local communities involved in fair fundraising isn't always easy.  So Badgerland Financial started giving fair-goers a chance to help - at the click of a mouse!

From now until September 23rd, you can vote for your favorite county fair by completing the survey at badgerlandfinancial.com (one vote/person/day).  Youth organizations from the five counties with the most votes will be given the opportunity to submit funding requests for service project ideas that directly benefit their local county fairs.

The top five county fairs get cash prizes.  The top voted county fair gets $5,000 - follwed by additional prizes valued at $3,000, $2,500, $2,000, $1,500 and $,1000 to the following four.

Kasten says that Badgerland Financial recognizes that county fairs help celebrate agricultural heritage and rural life, and they believe it's a good place to recognize youth development too.

Last year, Badgerland Financial awarded $6,000 to county fair youth service projects in Crawford, Columbia and Waupaca counties - the top voted county fairs during last years poll. Kasten says the money those county fairs received was used for things like landscaping around fairgrounds, petting zoo enhancements, better signage and display areas and structural upgrades too.
