It takes a lot of time and dedication to be involved in the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Association - and this weekend, it paid off for some.
The Wisconsin High School Rodeo Association hosted their annual competition in Richland Center over the weekend and 3 riders and ropers ended up with some cash!
Katy Cleary of Mineral Point, Megan White from Mount Hope and Noah Lassa from Merrill schored the top winners in the weekend events.
As the retiring WI High School Rodeo Queen, Katy Cleary got a $500 "Bumstad Family Queen Scholarship" along with the Teskey "Top Hand" Scholarship.
Noah Lassa was named the "All Around Cowboy" - with 660 total points in the event. Lassa was involved in team roping, steer wrestling and other cutting and roping events.
Megan White served on the Richland Center Rodeo Committee and snapped up a scholarship for her help - plus topped the goat roping event, and additional roping competitions!
WI High School Rodeo events were held in Lancaster, Dubuque and Arcadia giving its members a chance to fine tune their skills and earn more points for state competition.
The National High School Rodeo Association is one of the fastest growing youth organizations, with an annual membership of approximately 12,500 students from 41 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. The Association sanctions over 1,100 rodeos each year.
