Farm News: Platteville Works To Build A FencecommentsPosted: 06.21.2011 Alumni and friends of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the UW-Platteville School of Agriculture are encouraged to sponsor a fence board or post at Pioneer Farm as part of the Pioneer Farm Fence Sponsorship project. Sponsored boards and posts will be placed on the fence located adjacent to the walking path between the Cooper Living and Learning Center and the Agriculture Technology Center. Pioneer Farm is a place to learn, work and teach others. Approximately 700 students are enrolled in the UW-Platteville School of Agriculture. The project was started to offer alumni and friends the opportunity to support Pioneer Farm. When the project is near completion, the UW-Platteville Foundation will host a dedication to showcase the sponsored boards and posts. A sponsorship includes the person or business’ name on a board or post, which is visible to farm visitors and from the road. The cost to sponsor a board is $500, and the cost to sponsor a post is $250. A company logo can be placed on a board for $750. Funds raised from the project will support future enhancements to Pioneer Farm and will be divided among the Dairy, Swine and Beef Centers. Sixteen boards and five posts have already been sponsored by businesses, alumni and friends of the university. Colleen Zimmerman, a UW-Platteville alumnus, and her husband, Kevin, sponsored a board in the name of their farm, KCJ Angus. “We believe this project is a great way to promote our business and support UW-Platteville. Pioneer Farm is a great resource for the School of Agriculture and all of UW-Platteville,” stated Zimmerman. Sponsorships can be made by contacting the UW-Platteville Foundation Office. Questions about the project should be directed to Sara Larson or Casey Carignan, UW-Platteville Foundation student Pioneer development officers, at (608) 342-1182 or larsonsa@uwplatt.edu or carignanc@uwplatt.edu. |
