Dane County's Institutional Food Market Coalition has announced that Laura Witzling will be taking over as it's new director this summer.
Olivia Parry, the current director, will be moving over to concentrate on other economic activities in Dane county - but continue to lead the Dane County Fresh Market Packinghouse project (
http://www.dane-econdev.org/). She will also continue as an advisor to IFM.
Witzling, has coordinated the IFM program since 2009. Previously, Laura worked on local food issues through her soil science degree at the University of Illinois where she received her M.S. She also has experience with public education and agriculture and has worked on a wide variety of family farms.
Also new to IFM is Theresa Feiner, who will join us as the IFM Outreach Specialist. Theresa also works on the Wisconsin Dept. of Agriculture's Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin program and manages the Janesville Farmers Market.
Parry says she has been inspired by what she's witnessed as coordinator for the large local food movement in southern Wisconsin. She says there's been millions of dollars of local food sales generated because of it - and expects more key information networks, and both technical and physical infrastructure to continue being developed.
