Farm News: Auctioneers New Addition At Farm Tech Days

Don't tell Randy Stockwell that auctioneering is fading away.  He tells Pam Jahnke, he believes quite the contrary!

This year, the WI Auctioneers Association will be telling their stories and demonstrating their skills during the 2011 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days show in Marathon county.  Just a week away, Randy Stockwell,  RJ Stockwell, Inc. Land & Auction Company from Dorchester, tells Pam Jahnke that new technology isn't a threat - it's an enhancement to auctioneering.  Stockwell says the advent of internet activity combined with live auctions is only expanding the opportunities to sell.  "Some people look at technology as a threat - a change,"  Stockwell tells the WI Farm Report, "You know, a good auction, a live auction, will never be replaced.  We look at the internet technology as a new tool to add to our business repetoire."

Stockwell says that the WI Auctioneers Association will be active in two different areas at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days.  The first auction will be held from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Family Living Tent on Tuesday, July 12th and Wednesday, July 13th. Just like any other auction, purchase a number and then let the bidding begin! The money generated from that particular auction series will go to beneift the future WI Farm Technology Days events, will be reinvested into the Marathon County agricultural community and will be used for future educational scholarships. Items that will be sold include farm memorabilia and other donated items.

Stockwell says they'll also be holding some additional auctions in the WI Cattlemen's Tent on the WI Farm Technology grounds to benefit area families that were hit by extreme, severe weather earlier this spring.  Stockwell says they added the extra auctions to "send that money to our local communities that are still suffering after the severe weather".

Not only will there be an assortment of items to purchase, but there will be a variety of auctioneers to listen to. This promises to be a high energy event with a benevolent purpose!
