The Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center has launched a new website aimed at promoting Wisconsin’s cranberry industry through online product sales and attracting regional guests to its cranberry museum.

Barb Hendricks, director of the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center in Warrens says significant site improvements were made on www.discovercranberries.com to highlight the museum offerings, including its tours, special events, bakery and baking classes, while also promoting Wisconsin’s unique cranberry products to the world.

The online marketplace will feature more
than 200 cranberry products made in Wisconsin or with Wisconsin cranberries - all accessible at www.thecranberrystore.com.

“We are thrilled to help promote the state’s largest fruit crop, encourage tourism to the area and increase the use of Wisconsin cranberry products through this collaborative effort,” Hendricks said. She said another key to the new web activity is a special 10 percent savings offered through August 1, 2011 for any online purchases made.
The online marketplace project, aimed at helping increase demand for cranberries, was funded through a U.S. Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Block Grant. These grants are administered by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and aim to increase Wisconsin’s competitiveness in the domestic and foreign marketplace.
“There are some really delicious and innovative cranberry products made in Wisconsin or with Wisconsin berries, but the products or manufacturers are not well known,” said Hendricks. “With TheCranberryStore.com, we aim to change that by providing a worldwide online market.”
