Farm News: Workshop Helps With Fresh Produce HandlingcommentsPosted: 07.14.2011
UW Extension will be conducting workshops to address production and management of fresh market vegetables for people growing and selling fresh market produce at two locations on Monday July 18th.
Speakers at the workshops will be Drs. Amanda Gevens and Russ Groves, UW Extension vegetable pathologist and entomologists. They will be leading discussions on management (both conventional and organic) of problems and challenges encountered so far this growing season and managing the crop for the remainder of the growing season this year.
The first workshop will be at the Eli Borntreger farm located at 20576 County Hwy MM, Wilton, WI. This session will start at 10:30 am and will include a walk through the produce fields at the Borntreger farm. The workshop should wrap up at approximately 12:30 pm.
The second workshop will be held at the Growers Produce Auction, located at S347 Dell Rd. Cashton WI. The session will begin at 2:00 pm or at the conclusion of the auction that day whichever comes first.
The workshop is open to anyone who grow and sell fresh market produce. Participants are encouraged to bring along samples of plants they have with problems for diagnosis by the presenters.
