The tornadoes and other storms that swept through Wisconsin in recent months have taken a toll on eagles and other birds.

A rehabilitation center near Antigo that tends to orphaned avians is currently caring for about 30 eagles and 130 other birds. Marge Gibson directs the Raptor Education Group Wildlife
Rehabilitation Center. She says dozens of birds were victims of recent wild weather. She says many nests were knocked over by strong winds or tornadoes, and in other cases the trees themselves were toppled.

Gibson tells Wisconsin Public Radio that osprey, sandhill cranes and smaller birds such as sparrows have also been affected.

There's good news for some of the orphaned eagles. An adult eagle at the rehabilitation center has been helping 11 eaglets recover and learn to fly.
