Farm News: Berry Growers Head To Antigo

The Wisconsin Berry Growers Association invites all growers to attend the 2011 Summer Field Day to be held at Merry’s Berries in Antigo, Wisconsin, on Friday, August 5, 2011. 
 
Topics to be covered include:  Berry Nutrition; Irrigation & Moisture Monitoring; Wildlife Damage Abatement; NRCS Programs; Strawberry Renovation; Weed Control in Strawberries; High Tunnels. For a full timed agenda, see www.wiberries.org under news.
 
Andy Merry and his family have been growing strawberries since 1981.  Merry’s Berries is located just west of the City of Antigo and now consists of 10 acres of strawberries.  Varieties grown include Annapolis, Sparkle, Brunswick, Cavendish and Wendy.
 
Registration is at 8:30am with programming beginning at 9am.  Pre-registration is recommended by calling 920-478-3852.  Cost for non-members of the association is $38 which covers lunch as well.
