The third annual Grazing Seminar series will be held on October 7 at World Dairy Expo (WDE) in the Exhibition Hall. The new and improved Expo Grazing and Organic Pavilion will house a larger and more diverse trade show for grazing and organic companies and organizations. Vendors will once again sponsor a free reception from 3 to 6 pm in the Grazing & Organic Pavilion. Sponsors of the reception include Bavarian Fleckveih, Coburn Company,CRV, Crystal Creek, Inc, Geno Global, Livestock Improvement Company, and Normande Genetics.
This year, four seminars will be held on Friday October 7 starting at 10 am in the Exhibition Hall. Topics will include Wisconsin’s new dairy apprenticeship program—training for the next generation of dairy farmers, tradeoffs in feed costs and milk production between outwintering and building housing, a grazing research roundtable with researchers from US Universities that have grazing dairy herds, and a panel discussion on organic and grass-based dairy markets.
The seminar speakers will be on hand for the reception in the Grazing and Organic Pavilion starting at 3 pm immediately following the last seminar. “The goal of the reception is to give interested farmers a chance to network and socialize with the speakers and with each other,” said Laura Paine, Grazing Specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. “Well-managed pastures are a common part of dairy farming systems worldwide. We’re pleased to support an increased presence of grazing at World Dairy Expo.”
This year’s World Dairy Expo is being held October 4-8 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI. For general information on WDE, visit www.world-dairy-expo.com.
