One person was killed and two others were injured when a car hit their buggy in southwestern Wisconsin.

Sheriff's officials say three teenagers were thrown from a horse-drawn buggy when it was hit by a car just after midnight Monday on Highway 18 in the Grant County Town of Fennimore.

Authorities say a car driven by a 35-year-old Waukon, Iowa man crested a hill, hit the back of the buggy and dragged it several hundred feet. Seventeen-year-old Elizabeth Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. Nineteen-year-old Lydia Esch was taken to a
local hospital, then air-lifted to University Hospital in Madison with serious injuries. The driver of the buggy, 17-year-old Christian Esch, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the car wasn't hurt.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting local agencies in the investigation.
