Jamie Renier, a student at UW-River Falls is Wisconsin's only representative on the National Collegiate Agricultural Ambassadors for the 2011-2012 school year.

The focus of the program is to develop and implement a sustainable agricultural awareness plan among teachers and students on the local level and share the importance of agriculture. The students, who are currently enrolled in colleges and universities throughout the nation, will deliver presentations to elementary, junior-high and high school classes, community organizations and other groups interested in learning about the agriculture industry.

These presentations will focus on food safety and security, current agricultural topics, sound science and sustainable agriculture.

Renier is currently majoring in agriculture education at UW-River Falls - with the goal of becoming an agriculture education teacher.

The 20 students selected will participate in a four-day training seminar in August, in which they will concentrate on enhancing their presentation skills while receiving training on current agriculture issues.
